Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Leadership and Community Service-Learning (LCSL) is seeking an hourly Graduate Assistant (up to 10 hours) for Leadership Instructional Design to contribute to the development of the Expanding Leadership Learning Access (ELLA) project. The selected candidate will work closely with LCSL staff to write and edit content, develop interactive online modules, and launch ELLA within the UMD campus community. This project is made possible by the Do Good Campus Fund.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Must be enrolled full-time in a UMD graduate program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience with asynchronous course creation and design using the ELMS-Canvas learning management system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of leadership education and development.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in developing interactive online course tools and content.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, problem-solve, manage and meet timelines and deadlines.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Awareness and understanding of current practices in service-learning, civic engagement, social action, and leadership education, particularly those that center critical perspectives, dialogue practices, identity, equity, and social justice.
  • Experience working with college students in service-learning, community engagement, instructional design, and leadership education experiences.

Additional Information:

  • The position would require approximately 10 hours per week from August 1, 2024 until May 19, 2025.
  • Selected candidates would work in-person with partial hybrid/remote to be considered.
  • The schedule of work will be flexible based on the selected candidate’s availability, but should primarily occur during regular business hours.
