Position Description

The School of Business at the University of Washington Bothell invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Finance effective September 16, 2024. This is a visiting position for a period of up to one academic year (9 months), that can be renewed by an additional year. This position is 100% full time position. This position is not a tenure-track or tenure eligible position. Annual teaching load is five courses over three academic quarters – Autumn, Winter, Spring. The salary range for this position will be $11,000 - $13,294 per month ($99,000 - $119,646 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by the U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Finance courses at the undergraduate level, and be willing to provide service to the university, the business school, and the community. They may be assigned to teach at both Bothell and Bellevue locations of the school. Typical teaching assignments include courses like Financial Modeling, Financial Institutions, and Investments. As part of the University of Washington, the visiting faculty member will have access to databases such as BoardEx, CRSP, Compustat/Capital IQ, IBES, ISS/ESG, RavenPack, SEC Analytics, TAQ, Thomson/Refinitiv, and others provided through WRDS.

The UW Bothell School of Business is accredited by AACSB and is deeply committed to the success of its faculty in research, teaching, and service. The School of Business is well known for its undergraduate, MBA and MS Accounting programs. We work closely with industry leaders as well as the smaller, innovative, and rapidly growing companies in software, electronic commerce, medical equipment, biotechnology, electronics, and aerospace. Our programs draw from companies such as Microsoft, Boeing, Costco, Amazon, Expedia, Philips, and Starbucks. We also have a facility in Bellevue, a Seattle suburb. We have a growing Finance club and our students have excelled in CFA research challenges and ethics challenges.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Finance or Business and a scholarly academic Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field.

High-level proficiency in teaching finance courses independently at the university level.
