Job Duties
1. Using both the traditional and the non-traditional formats (short-term, weekend, online, hybrid, off. campus, web-enhanced), teach a full load of assigned courses at times when needed, which can include (1) during the day, including early morning, late afternoon, evening (2) holidays and/or (3) weekends. Courses to be taught may include General Biology I and II, Botany, Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, Nutrition, and Zoology.
2. Ensure adequate evaluation of students’ progress.
3. Assist, tutor, and advise students.
4. Follow established policies and procedures to enhance instruction and contribute to successfully accomplishing the course objectives, student achievement, and professional development.
5. Foster continuous improvement of the methods, content, relevance, and value of each course taught.
6. Participate in college or state-level academic/instructional committees assigned.
7. Ensure instructional methodology and requirements are consistent with the College and respective departments.
8. Participate in the Student Advisory System and make informed recommendations to students regarding class selections for degree completion and transfer opportunities.
9. Provide accurate and timely reports and communications as requested by the School Chairperson or College Administration.
10. Establish, post, and maintain office hours as college policy directs.
11. Attend meetings as requested.
12. Serve as a public relations representative for the Community College system.
13. Engage in ongoing professional development and meet the required units.
14. Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by respective departments or college administration.

Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: Responsible for teaching assigned courses at assigned sites and the other duties and responsibilities inherent in this position. Reports to the School of Science and Kinesiology chairperson on the Harrison County Campus.

Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Master’s degree in Biology or Master’s degree with a minimum of eighteen graduate semester hours in biological sciences from an accredited institution of higher learning. (M2) Teaching experience. (M3) Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. (M4) Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite.

Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Doctorate in an appropriate field. (D2) Qualifications to teach various lecture/lab courses in the area of biological sciences (General Biology, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Nutrition, Human Anatomy and Physiology). (D3) Experience teaching at the community college and/or college level.
