NV5 is on the lookout for a dedicated Industrial Hygiene Technician to become a part of our Building Sciences Team. This role is pivotal in managing hazardous materials within the built environment, focusing on substances such as lead, asbestos, and mold. The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of a Senior Consultant and will be instrumental in executing comprehensive surveys, crafting work scopes, monitoring remediation activities, and delivering technical support to our clients
- Execute air monitoring and site inspections during the remediation of hazardous substances.
- Develop and implement strategic sampling plans for hazardous materials.
- Analyze sampling data and interpret results related to hazardous materials.
- Compile comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations on hazardous materials.
- Offer expert technical assistance to clients regarding hazardous materials management.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulations and best practices concerning hazardous materials.
Qualifications:
- An AA or BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene are desired. Documented, applicable experience may be considered as substitute.
- At least six months of relevant experience in the field.
- A robust understanding of hazardous materials identification, control/abatement, and remediation oversight.
- Proficiency in construction practices and Cal/OSHA regulations.
- Preferred certifications: CSST (Certified Site Surveillance Technician) by Cal/OSHA.
- Desirable additional certifications: CSST, NIOSH 582 (or equivalent), CDPH Inspector Assessor, OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER.
- Must possess personal transportation and be able to independently travel to job sites throughout Southern California.
- Physical ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds and navigate ladders, tunnels, and basements.
The pay range for this California position is $30.00 - $38.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
