  • This is a 40 hour per week position, with a summer schedule.

  • Supports the institution with data solutions, development of reports, and identifies project needs in order to assist in decision making to align with LMC mission and strategic plan.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in Cognos Analytics, Framework Manager, and Transformer solution architecture.
  • Senior level skills in building Reports, Dashboards, and Scorecards using IBM Cognos 11..
  • Gathers business requirements, analyzes data mapping, and outlines the design, development of reports using programming and analysis tools.
  • Functions effectively in a rapidly evolving environment with an ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identifies project needs and is comfortable controlling their own work destiny.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills by providing clear, logical, and concise report documentation, project deliverables, and overall verbal/written communication.
  • Fully working remote.

    Essential Functions:
    1) Designs, develops, and deploys reporting solutions that leverage the Cognos tools utilized at LMC (Analytics, Excel Caf, Framework Manager, and Transformer).
    a. Develops and maintains reports using Cognos Analytics 11..
    b. Defines and follows Cognos development best practices.
    c. Develops and maintains Cognos dashboards and applies data visualization best practices.
    2) Provides system support for the Cognos environment (Cognos Administration for both the development and production environments).
    a. Manages data source connections and user accounts.
    b. Manages report security, folder security, and database row level security.
    c. Manages report schedules and report distribution.
    3) Works closely with the Director of Analytics and Programming and the IT Enterprise Solutions team to provide enterprise-level reporting, program assessment reporting, and federal or state compliance reporting (IPEDS, Perkins, etc.).
    a. Works with other IR team members to submit compliance reports for LMC by pre-determined deadlines.
    b. Works with the IT Enterprise Solutions team to develop SQL queries, custom database views, as needed for reporting.
    4) Works well with a variety of teams, particularly with gathering business needs and cross-departmental discussions, as well as within the IR/IT Team.
    a. Strategizes with other teams to create mutually beneficial reporting solutions.
    b. Coordinates with Banner Core Team members on user acceptance testing and production deployment.
    c. Works as a liaison with functional users, as a bridge of understanding related to technical documentation.
    d. Maintains strong working relationships at all levels across the institution.
    5) Clearly demonstrates sense of urgency and bias for action with the ability to work well under pressure and independently.
    6) Takes ownership of issues and opportunities, and works diligently to produce comprehensive solutions.

    Under the limited supervision of Dean of Accreditation, Planning, and Quality.

    Job Specifications:
    Bachelors degree is required, majoring in MIS, CIS, Computer Science or Data Analytics/Statistics preferred.
    Five or more years of experience in an educational institution is required.
    Five or more years of experience working with Cognos Analytics, Cognos Framework Manager, Cognos Transformer is required.
    o Motio, SPSS or SAS knowledge is desired.
    Five or more years of experience with Ellucian Banner table structures and creating custom reports is required.
    o Experience with Ellucian Degree Works table structures and creating custom reports is desired.
    Three or more years of experience with Oracle (12.x or 19c) SQL and PL/SQL programming is required.
    Three or more years of experience with SQL Server programming (Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and 2016), and associated data management tools is highly preferred.
    IBM certified designer or COGNOS Analytics Author vs11 certifications.
    The ability to write complex and nested SQL queries, and disseminate the information so it can be used by Cognos for reporting.
    Experience with Visual Basic .NET framework programming experience is desired.
    Experience with Atlassian tools Jira and Confluence for managing Help Desk tickets, Project Management tools, and Knowledge Base support is preferred.
    Some experience with AWS or Oracle Cloud is desired.
    Strong analytical, database, and communication skills.
