Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 The Assistant Director of Student Life supports the Director of Student Life in planning, organizing, and implementing programs and services that enhance the overall student experience. This position is responsible for assisting with the coordination of student activities, student organizations, and leadership development initiatives.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the development and implementation of student life programs and activities that promote student engagement and retention.
  2. Provide support and guidance to student organizations, including advising student leaders and assisting with event planning.
  3. Collaborate with campus departments and external partners to coordinate student events and initiatives.
  4. Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of student life staff and volunteers.
  5. Maintain records and data related to student involvement and program effectiveness.
  6. Assist in the development and management of the student life budget.
  7. Assist in the management of on-campus identification system. 
  8. Assist in the management of on-campus student and staff meal plans.
  9. Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders regarding student life activities and initiatives.
  10. Assist in the development and execution of New Student Orientation Program and related activities (Parent Orientation, Welcome Week, etc.).
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in student affairs or related field.
  • Must have a valid State Driver’s license.
 
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling or related field
  • Experience working in higher education setting.  
  • Experience advising student organizations and planning student events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong Organizational and multitasking skills.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.  
  • Ability to work collaboratively with with the student population and campus community.  
  • Knowledge of student development and best practices in student affairs. 
  • Familiarity with student leadership development programs.  
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to student affairs.

Physical Requirements  
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment 
Work is performed in a standard office environment.    
Work-inside a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most of the time.
