Pro Fee Coordinator

Job Description

We are seeking a Pro Fee Coordinator who will be responsible for assisting the Production Unit Manager(s) in maintaining and monitoring the day-to-day processing of revenue cycle functions within the production unit. Responsible as a team lead in assisting in reviewing and analyzing the accuracy of staff work. Will assist in weekly and monthly report preparation, developing office policies and procedures, serve as a lead for troubleshooting and problem solving and will be expected to exercise independent judgment. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and staff information. Promote teamwork and assist in identifying areas of improvement and recommend coordinated actions to bring about changes. Able to maintain confidentiality and compliance with department policies.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


Procedural Knowledge

  • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the day-to-day processing of assigned work queues as identified by the Production Unit Manager.
  • Assists the Production Unit Manager in identifying trends in revenue cycle.
  • Assists the Production Unit Manager in training new staff and existing staff members.
  • Provide feedback regarding problems to management and assists in problem resolution.
  • At times generates and reports to Production Unit Manager weekly and monthly productivity reports as assigned.
  • Communicate, under the direction of the Production Unit Manager, with appropriate individuals outside the assigned department or institution as designated by management.
  • Serves as back-up for Production Unit Manager absence to report work queue status.
  • Serve as a department representative on CPA-led Office of Managed Care call and provide a summary to management.
  • Identifies and resolve key issues and takes appropriate action to respond to complex patient and medical insurance inquiries.


Technical Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge and compliance of HIPAA rules and regulations in the dissemination of patient Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Working knowledge of Revenue Cycle.
  • Utilize online resources to facilitate efficient claims processing.
  • Uses relevant functions of EPIC.


Professional & Personal Development

  • Participate in on-going educational activities.
  • Keep current of industry changes by reading assigned material on work related topics.
  • Complete training as opportunities present.


Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Will be responsible for maintain multiple work queues under direction of Production Unit Manager such as Registration, Charge Corrections, Patient Inquiry, AR and Escalation.
  • Will be expected to not only work on a daily basis in specialized areas, but also work accounts receivable.
  • Under collaboration with the Production Unit Manager will maintain Revenue Cycle Resource folder to ensure resources are up-to-date and current for staff to access.
  • Will under direction of Production Unit Manager perform internal audits twice per year for Collection Specialist staff.
  • Will perform incentive audits as assigned.
  • Will be expected to stay current on coding, payor and compliance policies.


Minimum Qualifications
  • HS/GED required.
  • Two years experience in a specialty area or previous revenue cycle experience in a similar environment is required.
  • Additional education beyond minimum experience qualifications may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree or higher-level degree preferred.
  • Five years experience in a specialty area or previous revenue cycle experience in a similar environment, preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Coding experience: modifier application, familiarity with CPT/diagnosis code application
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Aptitude for figures and attention to detail.
  • Capable of meeting deadlines and working well under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Epic, electronic health record, preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills required.
  • Knowledge of JHM and JHU revenue cycle operation preferred.
  • Knowledge – at intermediate or expert level - of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products.

Starting Salary Range: $16.00 - $28.50 HRLY ($27.40 targeted; Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Full Time
