Summary Description

The Department of Sociomedical Sciences (SMS) at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health is seeking applications for tenured, tenure-track or non-tenure track scholars at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in global mental health. We expect at least one, with the potential for two positions. Specialty emphasis is open, but we are especially interested in scholars working in low- or middle-income countries in areas related to prevention and/or treatment of child or adult mental disorders, including substance abuse and comorbid health conditions. Research topics of interest include resilience, suicide, stigma, depression, trauma, addictions, aging, multi-level interventions (including structural/policy-level interventions), and implementation science approaches.

Minimum Degree Required

A doctoral degree in social or behavioral science or related field (PhD, ScD, DrPH, MD or equivalent) is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should have research experience and training in public health and/or the social and behavioral sciences, and a strong record of scholarly achievement, peer-reviewed publications, and teaching experience. The selected candidate is expected to have an established and successful record of extramural-funded research, or to demonstrate potential to obtain extramural funding for their research. We are particularly interested in highly motivated investigators with methodological and interpersonal skills to lead and sustain diverse scientific teams and produce new interdisciplinary collaborations and impact within the department and across the school and university.

Preferred Qualifications

Postdoctoral training or experience preferred for assistant professor level position.

Additional Information

Rank will be commensurate with qualifications. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
