About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team at KJ. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the CFO will embody our company's values and lead by example, inspiring and guiding teams towards achieving our strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in professional services organizations and possess the ability to innovate and lead in a competitive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Partnership;

  • Develop and provide insight on key financial strategic decisions to maximize firm value.
  • Drive innovation and investment to keep the company competitive and at the forefront of service delivery.
  • Build and support a high-performing accounting and finance team focused on accountability and professional growth.
  • Focus on maintaining robust financial operations to ensure foundational stability and facilitate strategic profitable growth.
  • Understand debt and equity models and government regulations critical to positioning the business for successful operations and funding growth.
  • Manage employee stock transactions, profit-sharing & stock plan, including forecasting, FP&A, regulatory compliance, performance evaluation and long-term planning.

Financial Planning and Analysis;

  • Excel in FP&A and project cost accounting, enhancing financial processes across all company functions.
  • Cultivate partnerships company-wide to improve financial literacy and acumen among business leaders.
  • Oversee annual planning and rolling forecast processes to ensure alignment with financial objectives.
  • Direct the Accounting and Finance Department in activities such as cash management, tax analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Recommend profit-improving actions to managers and senior leadership.

Business and Revenue Growth;

  • Assess services and geographies to determine key moves essential to positioning the company for profitability and expansion, including office leases.
  • Drive project cost control policies and procedures and identify business risks and opportunities.
  • Establish banking relationships and credit arrangements to help finance the growth of the firm.
  • Perform financial evaluations on prospective business opportunities and negotiate strategic alliances, partnerships and acquisitions.

Controls, Audit and Tax Reporting Functions;

  • Develop and maintain systems for internal controls and accurate reporting of operations.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all required tax returns and reports and respond to audits.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all required local, state and federal tax returns and annual reports.
  • Respond to all government, client and outside audits.

In addition, the CFO is a people leader who is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Finance and Accounting Department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance required. MBA preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of Accounting & Finance experience, preferably in the engineering/architectural field or professional services firm acting as Controller or CFO.
  • Supervisory/people leadership experience required.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (BST Global preferred) and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in managing and overseeing IT hardware and software systems as it relates to business needs, preferred.
  • Experience working in an employee-owned company is highly preferred with experience managing profit sharing plans including FP&A, regulatory compliance, performance evaluation and long-term planning.

The salary range for this position is anticipated to be $215,000 to $280,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications and geographic location.
