NC State University’s New Student Programs department is hiring for a Graduate Intern to provide support in the coordination and implementation of Summer Start, a residential summer transition initiative for incoming NC State students. This includes assisting in the planning and execution of on-going co-curricular programming for students throughout Summer Start. This position will also have responsibilities related to the development of student staff employees and creation of programming for underrepresented student populations. The position will employ a graduate student from May 15, 2024 until August 2, 2024, but dates are flexible.

- Assist in the planning and implementation of initiatives and programs related to the transitional success of first-year and transfer students
- Co-supervise a team of approximately 16 Summer Start Mentors (undergraduate student staff), including weekly meetings with individual student staff members
- Facilitate student leader training sessions for Summer Start Mentors
- Coordinate logistics for co-curricular programs with campus partners
- Collaborate in the assessment of student staff and facilitate individual evaluation meetings
- Communicate with Summer Start participants while assisting in the program’s communication efforts, including social media, newsletters, and emails
- Plan and implement staff events including the End of Summer Banquet and weekly staff meetings
- Serve as a representative of the office as a liaison to campus partners and program participants
