Job Description

We are currently seeking a Specialist on the Talent Learning and Development team to serve in a Trainer capacity who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.

SUMMARY

Responsible for designing and delivering training content geared toward specific areas of learning that may be part of a larger curriculum or educational project. Under supervision utilizes instructional systems design (lSD) to develop content, facilitates training and monitors educational programs for adult learners; to ensure employees in department/office areas and business functions have the knowledge to proficiently perform their jobs and achieve business objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Deliver educational programs in college and office settings via formal and informal methods such as: Hands-on, instructor-led, virtual classroom, simulations, e-Learning, mobile, audio/video, embedded/on-the-job (OJT) learning, leaders as teachers, social learning, on-demand/self-led, and partnering with educational institutions;
  2. Program responsibilities could include: COPP, CLP, Onboarding and/or ETAP;
  3. Deliverables may include: Instructional related documents, curriculum outlines, course content, procedural manuals, handouts, job aids, quick reference guides, presentations, websites, audio/videos, graphics/images, simulations, interactive e-learning courses, exercises, skills packages, and mobile learning applications;
  4. Develop and maintain course content utilizing adult learner methodology for the intended audience;
  5. Gain understanding of learning objectives and content for educational programs by communicating and working collaboratively with business clients and subject matter experts, observing performance in the work environment, and referring to technical job specifications and/or standard operating procedures; 
  6. Work with business clients, project team members, and subject matter experts in requirements gathering and business analysis to document functionality and standard operating procedures for end user educational materials;
  7. Utilize instructional systems design (lSD) to author and update educational materials and programs;
  8. Remain current on learning development and instructional design topics; including emerging technologies, techniques and methodologies to develop new knowledge and share information with colleagues to ensure ongoing improvement of educational programs geared toward increasing employee proficiency; and
  9. Travel between HCC campus locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.  The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.  

 

Degrees in adult learning, instructional or technology design preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

Four (4) years of experience related to training, including two (2) years of experience developing and delivering training programs.

 

PeopleSoft and managerial experience preferred. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Must possess working knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional systems design methodology, and higher-level learning evaluation models (I.e. Kirkpatrick's five levels of evaluation);

  2. Must possess a senior working-practitioner skill level in employee training, instructional design, survey design, and learning evaluation;

  3. Must possess a senior working-practitioner skill level in Microsoft office suite of products as well Adobe suite of design applications, SharePoint, and current learning management and authoring software;

  4. Accountability:

  • Desire to constantly learn new skills and develop competencies that will improve performance and effectiveness; desire to build deep understanding of one's work, business and role within the organization; and

     10.  Teamwork & Collaboration:

  • The ability to participate and work with others as part of a team to accomplish common goals.
