Head of Operations

Job Description

HEAD OF OPERATIONS, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to provide day to day oversight of the operational and administrative aspects of the FutureTech research project and ensuring a highly innovative and impactful research environment.  Will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of leading researchers and experts across computer science and economics/business and be involved in significant project management within a cutting-edge research center in artificial intelligence and computing.  Responsibilities include maintaining relationships with key internal personnel and industry partners; managing project timelines, resources, and deliverables; helping facilitate the work of researchers; implementing administrative policies and procedures; tracking progress of complex initiatives, projects, and events involving FutureTech and associated labs and programs; participating in key constituent meetings to ensure appropriate and responsive follow-up and accountability; helping prepare research project plans for review, approval, and execution; coordinating the lab’s grant writing and reporting and assisting with grant development; developing methods for collecting project data and ensuring tracking of key metrics; providing regular analysis of project’s progress work toward goals and objectives; assisting with reporting and other compliance activities; writing and coordinating policy summaries and outreach; generating project plans for lab research, implementing operational plans to support lab goals, and providing input for strategic planning; budget development and management; recruiting junior operations staff; and performing other duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree and at least four years of administration, project/program management, or operations experience.  PREFERRED:  experience in a research or technology-oriented environment, experience managing or leading others, and research paper and grant writing experience.  Job #23934-9

Work is primarily on-site in a lab.

This is a one-year term appointment based on grant funding.
