Primary Purpose:

Produce construction quality design job packages for gas and electric work orders related to the company's gas and electric facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use AutoCAD and other drafting systems to produce construction quality design job packages for gas and electric work orders related to the company's gas and electric facilities.
  • Use SAP to analyze costs and construction contingencies and interpret rule applications governing costs and cost responsibility.
  • Prepare process flow maps, spreadsheets, word processing documents, presentations, etc. in support of process design.
  • Assist in developing, verifying, and processing technical data for the purpose of analysis. Recommend improvements. Prepare and check specifications. Inform administrative personnel as to discrepancies or inconsistencies.
  • Develop and monitor project data. Review and ensure assigned project schedule deadlines are met. Prepare engineering records and routine reports. Conduct surveys. Maintain computer files as specified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Hybrid Schedule:

  • Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.

Required Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED High school education or GED equivalent required.
  • 2 years - Experience involving mapping or drafting.
  • Knowledgeable in basic trigonometry and algebra, design and drafting principles of utilities, cost estimating, and utilities construction methods and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is a must.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Organization and time management skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Other College level courses desirable.
  • Familiarity with computer systems such as SAP is desirable.
  • Knowledge of customer service activities and SDG&E internal processes are desirable.
  • Computer skills in Company supported software are recommended.
