Job Description
OverviewVTG is seeking Engineering Technician 3 located in San Diego, CA
What will you do?
- Install, appropriately secure, and dress-in all cabling and user desktop IT equipment
- Assist in the integration, installation and testing of Audio/Video/Video Teleconferencing Systems
- Assist in the de-installation, relocation and/or installation of systems
- Support IT cable plant and equipment installation
- Pull, test and terminate CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, copper and Fiber
Do you have what it takes?
Education and/or Experience:
- Must meet at least one of the following:
- Associate's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrnoics Technoology, Inforamtion Technology or similar;
- Four (4) years of U.S. military experience in telecommunications or relevant
- Completion of two (2) year contractor apprenticeship in related field with at least six (6) months of training
- Eight (8) years of experience performing C$ISR or cable installation for Department of Defense (DOD) major telecommunications services or equipment providers.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid driver's license
- CPR certification
Other Qualifications:
- Secret clearance required, eligible for TS/SCI clearance
- Ability to pass government background check and drug test
- Experience installing Audio/Video/Video Teleconferencing Systems and desktops preferred
- Experience with CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6 cabling, copper and Fiber
- Previous experience interpreting and complying with installation drawings and blueprints
- Must possess the physical ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
- Must be skilled with and have prior experience using common installation power and hand tools including hand-held saws, drills (including hammer drills), hole punches, levels, crimpers, fusion splicers, and conduit benders.
- Must be skilled in installation test equipment inclduing spectrum analyzers, voltmeters, VSWR meters, Bit-Error Rate Test sets, and CAT5e/6 cable testers.
- Demonstrate a consistent record of good workmanship and compliance to standards.
- Personnel shall demonstrate advanced speed and accuracy when performing tasks such as attaching fiber optic connectors, RJ-45 connectors, and DB type connectors.
- Demonstrate above average speed and skill when performing tasks such as dressing cable installations so that the finished product presents a well organized and professional appearance.
