Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Senior Cost Analyst
  • Reviews service center pricing proposals.
  • Educates campus-wide personnel on service center costing, space surveys, and other financial compliance/costing requirements.
  • Develops components of the University’s F&A and Fringe Benefit rate proposals that are negotiated with the federal government for use on grants and contracts.
  • Prepares various analyses, reports, and surveys to satisfy both internal and external cost accounting requirements.
  • Develops process improvements related to sponsored accounting, compliance and costing initiatives.
  • Manages the Effort Reporting system.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.

Experience:
  • At least five (5) years of related experience including post award research administration, accounting, or financial analysis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of federal grant regulations (e.g. Uniform Guidance).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate accounting/compliance requirements and achieve cooperation.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex analyses and create reports with a high degree of accuracy; strong data mining and analysis skills; strong knowledge of cost allocation methodology and concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and plan accordingly to meet deadlines.
  • Effectively utilize and implement exceptional analytical, judgment, and organizational skills, and ability to carry out and follow through with complex assignments when no clear precedent exists.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office software and financial systems for advanced analysis and useful reporting.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience in a research intensive higher education setting.
