Job Description Summary
This postion is grant funded through 06/30/2025).
The Access to Achievement Coordinator will provide support and guidance to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to promote their success in college. The coordinator is responsible for various tasks such as assisting students in identifying their interests and goals, providing information about different program options, developing individualized plans, guiding students through the application process, and referring them to other support services as needed. The coordinator also tracks student outcomes, organizes outreach and recruitment efforts, and serves as an advocate for the inclusion of students with IDD in all aspects of college and campus life. Additionally, the coordinator liaises with workforce development staff, community agencies, and local employers to help students pursue employment opportunities.

Duties
1. Contacts, interviews students and/or parents to establish interests/goals and develops a person-centered education plan. Conducts regular follow-ups with students & instructors and refers to other services and resources as needed.
2. Organizes and coordinates IDD Student Workforce Training implementation team, participates in trainings & meetings across the college and the state to learn about resources, identifies opportunities, and creates solutions and supports for students with IDD, including helping to create career pathways and/or integrated education and training (IET) programs.
3. Recruits students, gives tours, and helps with application process.
4. Tracks student outcomes and submits reports to NCCCS, etc. as needed.
5. Liaises with workforce development, community agencies, and local employers to assist in pursuit of employment for students, advocating for inclusion of students in all aspects of college.
6. Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
7. Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Service, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or related field;
2. Three years of full-time or equivalent experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities;
3. Experience with the resources and services for IDD population such as The Arc of NC, Vocational Rehabilitation, Watauga Opportunities, etc. |

Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Service, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or a related field.
2. Experience with Colleague or other student information system.
3. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Total Compensation: 79,396 – 81,393

Your total compensation goes beyond this maximum salary. Your A-B Tech benefits represent nearly 30% of your total compensation.

The total compensation for this position includes an 25.02% employer contribution to a defined pension plan, contributions towards medical and dental policies and fully funded life insurance / accidental death & dismemberment policy.
