Job Summary


 

The Program Manager will Provide leadership and oversight to international and intercultural education (IIE) at the District Office, working with the IIE directors at the various campuses to provide clarity and support to the strategic operations of MCCCD’s global engagement and internationalization efforts, and help to lead the planning and administration of programs, procedures, policies, trainings, and publications related to international and intercultural education, faculty global engagement, study abroad, international students, international travel, and international visitors and scholars.

Essential Functions


 

25% - Lead the District’s International Education department at the system level, assisting in strategic planning of the department’s programs and services; work in tandem with the IIE Council and its subcommittees (i.e.Global Engagement subcommittee, F-1 Subcommittee, etc.), numerous other committees and stakeholders to guide the internationalization efforts with support and engagement by the international offices of the ten colleges and their directors.

20% - Lead the development of faculty global learning programming including overseas faculty development programs, Global Forums, Global Dialogues, and the Global Engagement Conference; convene meetings with the Global Engagement subcommittee to collaborate with faculty into the programming for each academic year.

20% - Oversee the system’s study abroad programs (including COIL/virtual exchanges) at a system level; assist in the production of training handbooks, policies, procedures, faculty “how to” workshops, and faculty mentoring, to assist faculty and colleges new to study abroad through the complex process from conception of a study abroad program idea to program implementation.

20% - Assist in the exploration, recommendation, and development of International partnerships/exchange/grant programs/workforce development as well as assist in the assessment of their success. Maintain consistent reporting of trends, gaps and opportunities based on the policies, procedures and partnerships.

15% - Administration of opportunities and programs that recruit, admit, and help to retain international students. Provide guidance and training on various aspects of international/intercultural education with respect to international student issues. Complying with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accreditor standards, and institutional policies and procedures. Analyze data on a yearly basis to determine international student trends for the District.


 

Minimum Qualifications


 

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, educational leadership or related field and five years of program administration or management experience, that includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.

OR

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and seven (7) years of program administration or management experience, that includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.

OR

High School Diploma or GED and nine (9) years of program administration or management experience, that includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Desired Qualifications


 

A. Master degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in education, educational leadership or related field.

B. Three (3) or more years experience in an international office at a college or university focusing on study abroad program development, administration/supervision, knowledge of laws and policies governing international/intercultural education programs with knowledge of health and travel policies.

C.Three (3) or more years working with federal guidelines for exchange programs, as well as administration of F, M and J visa programs.

D.Two (2) or more years experience with international travel, including living/studying abroad.

E.Three (3) or more years experience in partnership development and administration.

F. Dual language fluency (e.g., written, spoken) and demonstrated cross-cultural skills.

G. Excellent communication and organizational skills demonstrated in the cover letter and resume.


 

Special Working Conditions


 

This position may need to work evenings and weekends.

Positions in this class typically require: fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
