Founded by a Latina grandmother/community advocate over 50 years ago in Barrio Logan, FHCSD has grown into one of the largest community health systems in the country. The in-house Career Counselor is pivotal in supporting the workforce in their professional journeys. They provide guidance and support to students and staff exploring career advancement at FHCSD, empowering them to achieve their career goals. The Career Coach will plan, direct and coordinate activities for the delivery of the assigned programs, including in-house education programs such as Behavioral Health, Medical Assistant and LVN grant and training programs.

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership, Accounting, Human Resources, and staff members to enhance internal workforce development initiatives.
  • Help foster a company culture of continuous learning by identifying skill gaps and recommending appropriate development opportunities.
  • Plan, develop and deliver effective presentations, workshops, orientations, or training sessions on relevant career development topics.
  • Stay familiar with industry trends and labor market dynamics to provide up-to-date career advice.
  • Conduct comprehensive career assessments to identify individual workforce member's strengths, skills, and aspirations.
  • Assist co-workers developing career goals and action plans to reach them.
  • Guide employees through career transitions, including promotions, lateral moves, and changes in professional focus.
  • Identify promising students, and those who would and contribute to the FHCSD training programs, including secondary schools and colleges.
  • Work with Communications Department to produce marketing materials and effective marketing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain an effective referral network.
  • Connect learners to additional resources such as financial aid, vocational training, or other state and local assistance as available and needed.
  • Provide progress reports to senior leaders.
  • Work with the Grants Department to develop other workforce initiatives and to obtain grant support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Requires an active Class C California driver's license, proof of liability insurance at $100,000, on vehicle used. No more than 2 points in past 12 months; No suspensions in last 2 years for moving violations; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 5 years. No license revocation in 7 years.

Desired Skills

  • Strong understanding of career development and counseling techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, deal with aggressive timelines, set and communicate expectations to all stakeholders.
  • Proven success advising and providing guidance about career choices/paths, jobs or career changes that are equally advantageous to the candidate/incumbent/college students/etc. and the organization.
  • Proven ability to run small group sessions or give presentations to large groups, covering all aspects of careers and other topics related to personal development and aligning to organization's offerings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability and skills to work with spread sheets, pivot tables and track loans, grants, scholarships, and follow accounting standards.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is preferrable but not required.
  • Intermediate user of MS Office.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

64,480.00 - 85,973.33

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
