Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Educational Specialist will report directly to the Program Director of UM-EOC. The Educational Specialist is responsible for advising/counseling and assisting with college admissions and financial aid. The position will involve outreach and recruitment in the target community. The program will involve public relations and marketing to the target audience. Data entry and management will be required.

This position is located off-campus in Prince George’s County. There will be meetings at the University of Maryland College Park campus as well as in the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelors degree.

Experience:
  • Two years experience in administrative staff work.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling Education, Psychology, Sociology or related field.
  • 2 years of relevant experience working with long income first generation adult populations.
  • Knowledge of Prince George’s County, MD community or active experience working with community based organizations.
  • Experience with TRIO Programs

Traditional Office environment and extensive local travel to targeted areas in Prince George’s County, MD. Ability to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Maryland. Some evenings and weekend work is required.
