Essential Job Duties
The Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) at NC State University is seeking a University Program Specialist to join its Community Initiatives team. As a University Program Specialist, you will play a vital role in the project’s programmatic work, including organizing and coordinating in-person and virtual events, conducting secondary research, and promoting community engagement efforts such as newsletters and listservs.
You will also be responsible for assisting with digital inclusion and faith communities while preparing for future programs that are yet to be identified.
In addition to your core responsibilities, you will also be responsible for coordinating grant management activities.
You must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and a high level of comfort with MS Office and Google Suite (Excel/Sheets PowerPoint/Slides, and Word/Docs, etc).
Attention to detail is also essential. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, and you will be required to work at IEI’s offices in the James B. Hunt, Jr. Library on NC State’s Centennial Campus in Raleigh, as well as travel across the state.

Minimum Experience/Education
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of North Carolina’s history, politics and key stakeholders as they relate to economic and community development (broadly defined)
- Knowledge of or experience with asset-based community development
- Current or prior membership in a faith community
- Experience with database management
- Experience with event planning
- Experience with survey software (e.g., Google Forms, Smartsheet, etc)
- Experience with supervising other staff
