Senior Financial Administrator

Job Description

SENIOR FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR, Open Learning, to report to the director of finance and play a vital role within the Open Learning financial team, overseeing and reporting on the financial performance of multiple business units and managing a diverse portfolio of sponsored awards.  Will assist with the development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for various business units; serve as a resource for business units regarding financial inquiries and problem-solving; ensure day-to-day financial operations and internal controls are supported, including the review and approval of financial transactions; support faculty in pre-award activities such as budget review and institutional information submission; communicate financial reporting to project leads and principal investigators (PIs) through monthly and quarterly reports; collaborate with business unit leads and PIs on resource allocation and payroll changes; perform complex post-award activities including award setup and budget revisions; assist PIs with financial reporting requirements to funding organizations; provide guidance on financial compliance with university policies and federal regulations; liaise with MIT Research Administration Services and Sponsored Accounting; and undertake related duties or special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, accounting, or business administration; at least five years of experience; experience with federal contracts and financial administration in an academic research environment; and knowledge of federal guidelines.  Job #23888-8

Salary range:  $80,000 - 100,000, with final salary determined by MIT’s compensation team based on the skills and experience of the candidate.

This is a hybrid position.
