Position Summary

The Pipeline for the Advancement of the Healthcare Workforce Program (PATH) Grant Coach develops positive and empowering relationships with various healthcare program students and serves as a resource from recruitment through graduation or transfer to a baccalaureate program. Through these endeavors, the PATH Coach has significant accountability in sustaining the College’s focus on student learning and achievement, specifically supporting students seeking Nursing degree and other PATH approved healthcare certificate and degree programs.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a central point of support for students pursuing any PATH approved healthcare certificate or degree and will work in an intrusive advising role, making intentional and regular contact with students.
  • Serve as an initial and ongoing point of contact for students, to whom they can ask questions and seek assistance.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of campus processes and be able to connect students to other offices, resources, and information
  • Develop relationships within MCC and with external navigators to best support students and connect them to offices/individuals
  • Maintain a basic working knowledge of MCC’s PATH approved healthcare programs including, but not limited to EMT, Nursing Assistant, Nursing degree, HIM, EKG, Phlebotomy, and MA.
  • Collaborate with the admissions and recruitment office; attend career fairs and other recruiting activities
  • Follow up with potential students following recruiting events
  • Manage and coach a caseload of assigned students through appreciative, positive, and responsive relationships, proactively monitoring student progress toward academic and career goals, intervening, as necessary
  • Assist students via scheduled appointments, drop-in visits, and email correspondence.
  • Co-construct appropriate academic plans with students, including short-term and long-term course selection, to meet current and future needs of all students.
  • Maintain accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student.
  • Initiate referrals to faculty, academic program chairs, or other academic resources as needed.
  • Empower and encourage students to advocate for their success academically, personally, and professionally
  • Conceptualize, implement, and assess retention initiatives
  • Provide administrative support and reception/customer service to the assigned department Administrator and department chairs, responding to a wide variety of inquiries from college employees, faculty, students, and community members
  • Create and maintain a variety of documents (e.g., forms, presentation materials, meeting agendas, minutes, etc.), aligning with branding standards of the College 
  • Provide administrative support for projects (e.g., reports, communications) including, but not limited to, gathering data, composing, proofreading, disseminating, and updating information in a variety of modes
  • Assist in data gathering, documentation, and preparation of various department procedures
  • Compile information for governmental and institutional reports (PATH, ICCB, HLC, grant applications, etc.) and assist in preparing reports
  • Enter data and extract information from the College’s ERP or other College software/systems to generate reports
  • Perform general clerical duties – word processing, filing, record keeping, maintain copy/fax machine supplies and materials, proofreading, etc., and maintain Outlook calendars
  • Provide complete, accurate, and timely information to the Administrator, department chairs, faculty, staff, students, and the community regarding office and other College procedures
  • Serve as office representative at college meetings, professional meetings, seminars, and workshops as requested. May serve on college-wide committees as needed
  • Work collaboratively with others (e.g., colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities, including providing administrative backup for other department administrative support services during breaks, lunches, emergencies, vacations, or other unexpected absences
  • Perform related administrative support duties specific to the assigned department and assigned by immediate supervisor
  • Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent, specialized training and/or coursework
