Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Director, Enterprise Project Management Office. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. This is an exempt, non-bargaining, grade 39 position. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness. The Director is responsible for overseeing and optimizing project management processes across Montgomery College through the development and implementation of project management standards, and methodologies. The incumbent will serve as a key liaison between the project management office and the divisions and areas across the College. Contacts include faculty, staff, and administrators across the organization in driving and managing enterprise project management processes, strategies, and methodologies.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops, implements, and leads project and portfolio management strategies that align with the overall strategic goals of the College and collaborates with senior leaders to translate organizational priorities into actionable plans.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees resource management processes and strategies to optimize utilization and efficiency across multiple projects, allocating resources effectively (e.g., time, budget, staffing, technology) to ensure successful project execution.
  • Designs, establishes, and maintains risk management protocols to minimize disruptions and enhance project success rates; assesses and identifies potential risks and challenges associated with projects and develops mitigation strategies.
  • Ensures effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Cultivates and leads a highly skilled, collaborative, and dynamic project management team by fostering a culture of excellence through innovation and best practices, accountability, learning, and professional growth.
  • Drives a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the project management framework by ensuring that project management processes and tools are effective and efficient.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent IT training and experience. 
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible IT and project management experience that includes:  a) leading and managing large-scale, complex project portfolios throughout the full lifecycle, b) working with diverse, cross-functional interests, stakeholders, and teams, and c) developing and managing budgets and finances.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification, or experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge and application of project management methodologies, defined approaches (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile), and planning/scheduling/tracking tools and applications. 
  • Knowledge of change management methods and practices and the ability to lead, educate, and coach others through them.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills -- both verbal and written -- with technical and non-technical individuals and varied levels of management.
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills including the ability to lead and establish positive relationships up, across, and down multiple leadership and organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Projects, or SmartSheet
