Job Description

The Buyer is responsible for goods or assignments requiring application of basic purchasing principles, theories, and concepts. The Buyer ensures timely acquisitions of product or service from known sources of supply. Additionally, the Buyer resolves issues in the areas of requisition accuracy and completeness, on-time delivery, or supplier payment functioning in a supervised environment.

  • Manages the activities of purchases of raw materials, supplies, equipment, or services by preparing request for quotations and submitting purchase orders with approved suppliers.
  • Issues purchase orders that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated with suppliers.
  • Monitor suppliers for lower cost items and negotiates price, delivery, quality, and service.
  • Advises appropriate personnel of impending supplier failure to fulfill contractual agreements that may delay production or delivery.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Complies with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations; ensures adherence to requirements and advises management on needed actions.
  • Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Travel to Tijuana, Mexico facility as required.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or a relevant discipline

Experience:

  • At least 2 year of related buying or planning experience.
  • Business software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, required.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with enterprise resource planning systems, including SAP, preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in English language, including speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Proficiency in Spanish language, including speaking, reading, and writing a plus.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organization and time management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, collaboratively, and in a team environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time while sitting or standing.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $68,460 annually to $114,101 annually.
