Summary:
The Executive Director, Strategic Accounts is responsible for developing and managing a team of Strategic Account Directors that develop relationships with key healthcare decision-makers within assigned geographies, including large group practice, Anesthesia groups, and selected other accounts and work in conjunction with field sales, field leadership and National Accounts. The role will play a pivotal role in driving product and field access, sales growth, and market share for our products nationally.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop team of Strategic Account Directors employees across the United States.
  • Develop and implement overall team strategy to achieve agreed-upon sales targets and market share objectives.
  • Develops and manages the Strategic Account yearly budget.
  • Build a strategy to utilize and leverage cross-functional corporate resources to enable the team for success while engaging strategic accounts.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers, including physicians, pharmacists, administrators, and purchasing managers.
  • Partner with National Account Team, local and regional sales professionals to approach accounts in a coordinated and strategic fashion.
  • Lead the development and negotiation of large account agreements, ensuring they are win-win propositions for all parties involved.
  • Maintain key stakeholder relationships with key accounts across the geography.
  • Conduct presentations and product demonstrations, effectively communicating the value proposition of our products to healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, payor team, MSLs, and sales operations, to develop a strategy and collateral to utilize all corporate resources assisting the team.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitor activities, and healthcare regulations to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports to track progress, identify opportunities, and measure the success of account strategies.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required, MBA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading national teams.
  • Large Account Management experience a must.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare landscape.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises a team of Strategic Account employees across the United States.
Interaction:
The incumbent works closely with sales leadership, the National Account Team, marketing, payor team, MSLs, sales operations and executive leadership, internally and with external partners.

  • Strategic thinker with knowledge and expertise in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry
  • Ability to develop high level business plans.
  • Must have capability to start a partnership or project from ground zero through integration.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Significant experience interacting with C-Suite, Director of Pharmacy Stakeholders
  • Existing relationships in large strategic accounts
  • Proven ability to drive execution and build alignment within teams and across functional areas.
  • Ability to effectively influence and align on strategic direction with external partners of all levels.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English communications skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 60%

This position requires considerable on-site presence at a typical pharmaceutical corporate environment with offices and cubicles, as well as at meetings and conferences.
