POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Purchasing Manager reports to the Regional Vice President, Demand Planning.
  • Located in San Diego, CA.
  • Full-Time
  • Hybrid

The Purchasing Manager is responsible overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Purchasing department and leading the team in purchasing products in accordance to company procedures and interpreting procedures to departments and vendors, reviewing and analyzing purchase requisitions, maintaining stock levels and managing inventory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, direct and oversee the operations of the Purchasing department. Lead, train, develop, monitor, coach and mentor direct reports.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with manufacturers and vendors and reinforce company policies. Purchase merchandise, place purchase orders, maintain proper service levels of stock SKUS; establish and maintain proper order points; verify pricing correctness. Uphold the pricing structure, policies and procedures and sustain consistency.
  • Work with PPG team to drive additional profitability through job bundling negotiating.
  • Negotiate buying programs with 3rd party subcontractors.
  • Drive best practices for special orders. Ensure that all specials are ordered in a timely manner and strive to order them on a best cost basis.
  • Partner with Retail and the distribution center to ensure availability of merchandise. Ensure acceptable product turnover and removal of slow-moving product.
  • Assist the Director of Purchasing in carrying out department and company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of team members, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to coach and motivate a team.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel required. Knowledge of AutoQuotes, a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Procurement, Business or related field, or equivalent Military or practical experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience working with foodservice equipment and supplies, preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' management experience.
  • Must have an understanding of buying group.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.

The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate's unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.

In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark's' benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
