Job Description

EDUCATION PROGRAM DIRECTOR, Environmental Solutions Initiative (ESI), to provide strategic direction and planning regarding funding applications, research agenda, and educational programming. The research and programming objectives will advance ESI’s mission, and help better understand, improve, and expand environmental, sustainability, and climate justice education at MIT and across higher education. In addition to developing strategic direction, will also directs the Environmental and Sustainability (E+S) degree minor and serve as a key resource and collaborator for climate and environmental education across MIT’s rapidly expanding climate education space; develop ESI’s education research, funding, and programming strategic plans and operation; define the education program project scope and schedule; identify and resolve issues; serve as a resource regarding administration of the educational and broader research programs at ESI and at MIT more broadly; teach, co-teach, and evaluate courses on environmental topics; conduct climate-related educational research; and disseminate research findings and best practices inside and outside MIT.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelors’ degree in either education, higher education, environmental education, sustainability, environmental science, or related field; and at least four years of administration and/or project or program management experience, including expertise in higher education and experience building educational curriculum, teaching, creating initiatives, and working with students.  

PREFERRED:  Ph.D., expertise designing, running, and analyzing climate, environment, or sustainability faculty development projects, or faculty training in genera; experience with open-source learning; and internal MIT experience. Job #23868-9
