Your Role

The People and Engagement Strategy & Planning team is responsible for (1) researching, defining and implementing our Blue Shield people strategy and how we continue to be a great place to do meaningful work, and (2) defining plans, managing execution and measuring success around People & Engagement operational / human capital / financial / technology goals.

The People Strategy, Planning and Performance, Consultant will report to the Senior Manager of People Strategy. In this role you will collaborate cross-functionally to set the people strategy for every business unit and the enterprise, which then informs our People & Engagement function's 5-year strategy and annual priorities. The Consultant has influence over all we do across our People & Engagement function - our strategy, priorities, and goals. The Consultant will possess strong project management skills and data analysis skills, be highly experienced at strategic thinking and be able to successfully partner across teams. The Consultant must be able to prioritize activities to meet rigorous deadlines.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for planning and implementation of moderately complex projects where analysis requires evaluation of organization strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities
  • Research and develop short and long-term strategies for talent management, recommend effective action plans based on key business issues, and implement to successful conclusion
  • Be responsible for facilitating annual strategic planning process by cascading 5-year People & Engagement strategy to annual operating plans and through bi-annual leadership team onsites/offsites
  • Assist financial partners to complete business planning and forecasting, in particular set annual people strategy commitments with People & Engagement stakeholders for every business unit through human capital planning
  • Assist in overseeing budget planning as part of the annual budget cycle
  • Utilize data analytics to assess talent trends, measure the effectiveness of strategies, and make data-driven decisions, which then informs the People & Engagement 5-year strategy
  • Work alongside HR business partners to assess current state of talent, and then set and track progress against people strategy commitments including metrics for every business unit
  • Make enterprise-wide talent recommendations based on business unit people strategy commitments
  • Partner with People & Engagement stakeholders to update and track 5-year strategic priorities and outcomes, and ensure annual plan efforts will help us achieve these outcomes
  • Prepare presentations and other material for various leadership forums as needed, including Board and Compensation & Human Resources Committee

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 7 years of prior relevant experience
  • Master's degree in human resources, business administration, organizational psychology or other related fields preferred
  • Requires proficiency in data analysis and making strategic decisions using talent metrics
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of leadership, including executives
  • Requires systems thinking and the ability to identify upstream and downstream impacts
  • Requires proven track record of consistently delivering high-quality results and working in a fast-paced work environment
  • Requires excellent analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Requires competency across Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Tableau, Monday.com, and Airtable products preferred

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 118800.00 to $ 178200.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
