Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Advisor for the Public Health Science (PHSC) program is responsible for guiding PHSC majors on their path to degree completion. This advising position will incorporate administrative tasks (e.g., senior audits, course review process, toolkit updates, prerequisite checks), and program outreach (e.g., orientations and recruitment events). Individuals applying for this position should demonstrate experience with and innovation surrounding inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related discipline.

Experience:
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in a college/university student service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with and passion for working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in collaboration, the ability to interact well with both internal and external audiences.
  • Detail oriented and proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and able to create and maintain various databases.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related discipline.
  • Direct student advising experience at a four-year institution.
  • Advising experience in relation to admissions, career services or allied health.

Additional Information:

Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
