• Provides evidence-based clinical interventions for the prevention, assessment, and treatment of substance use disorders as well as co-occurring mental health disorders. Works with mandated populations referred for AOD assessment and treatment. Provides ongoing training and education for UCC staff to enhance competency in the areas of AOD assessment and treatment. Responsible for the design, implementation, reporting, and evaluation of AOD services.

• Supports mandated student populations required to participate in an AOD assessment and treatment as the result of a sanction issued by the Office of Community Standards or a positive drug screen under the University’s Drug Testing Program for Student Athletes.

• Collaborates with University task forces and committees related to substance abuse on campus including the McDonald Center for Student Well-Being and the Drug Testing Oversight Committee and other committees related to student well-being.

• Functions as a Staff Clinician at the UCC, providing a range of mental health services to our diverse student body including drop-in triage services, individual and group counseling, planning and implementing treatment interventions, developing and implementing psychoeducational/skill building workshops that contribute to the UCC’s Stepped Care Model, providing consultation services to faculty, staff and students, and managing crisis situations. Maintains accurate and timely clinical records in electronic record keeping system.

• Provides after-hours emergency coverage as a back-up to a professional answering service for one week periods approximately 3-4 times per year.

• Provides supervision and training to doctoral psychology interns in the UCC Doctoral Internship Program in Health Service Provider in Psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association, as well as MSW and Masters interns receiving training at the UCC.

• Contributes to the development and implementation of UCC strategic initiatives and the subsequent development and implementation of goals, philosophies, policies, and procedures for meeting the comprehensive mental health needs of Notre Dame students.

• Maintains current professional licensure as a mental health provider in the state of Indiana. Participates in professional activities (e.g., research, professional presentations, leadership, and community service).

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D., Psy. D., or Ed.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, MSW, or Masters in Counseling from an accredited program and certification as an Alcohol and Other Drug Specialist.
• Licensed or license eligible in Indiana.
• Three years of full-time experience providing counseling for substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns, including crisis management.
• Experience working with mandated client populations.
• Familiarity with the Transtheoretical Stages of Change Model, Motivational Interviewing, and harm reduction strategies.
• Demonstrated proficiency and commitment to multicultural competence and experience working with individuals from diverse populations, as well as underrepresented, marginalized, and/or underserved populations.
• Demonstrated understanding and clinical application of the intersectionality of identity and mental health.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
• A solid understanding of boundaries and professional ethics is required.
