Job Summary

Responsible for managing, executing, developing, and directing the procedures and success of daily office operations for Outreach, Financial Aid, and the Testing Center. Supports and promotes the College in its mission and objectives, working with all College departments, students, and the community.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or a commitment to completing a Master’s within three years of starting in the position)
  • Minimum of three years of higher education experience
  • Experience working with federal & state regulations or other regulatory bodies
  • Two or more years of reporting experience
  • Prior supervisory and management experience
  • Competent use of client or student database system
  • Effectively manage time and priorities to meet established deadlines
  • Work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers and other external contacts
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Work in a team environment with multiple, sometimes changing priorities
  • Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills
  • Must complete NASFAA Professional Credentials, SEVIS DSO training, and Veteran certification official modules according to signed plan and timeframe.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of Coordinating Board reporting requirements
  • Direct Financial Aid, Veterans, Registrar, or Admissions experience
  • Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements
  • Knowledge of Texas Residency requirements, Texas Success Initiative, and the admissions process
  • Knowledge of F1 Visa student requirements

Essential Functions

  • Direct, plan, establish, and implement sound operational and organizational plans to support the College mission
  • Formulate policies, regulations, procedures, and processes to improve overall student success-driven operations
  • Creatively use emerging technologies to develop communication plans, deliver services and programs, and build relationships that meet high student satisfaction levels
  • Responsible for the oversight of the student financial aid programs and services to ensure federal and state compliance regulations, rules, and reporting requirements are met
  • Manages budget and fiscal matters, effectively recognizing work-related problems, opportunities, priorities, and risks
  • Manages student satisfaction through the delivery of quality customer service in all aspects of the administration of financial aid and admissions
  • Ensures accurate and confidential handling of student records and data
  • Direct and oversee selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of direct reports
  • Responsible for directing, assisting, and providing support with the supervision, evaluation, and coordination of all campus functions pertaining to admissions and financial aid
  • Help direct reports to maximize their contribution to the College and to grow professionally; foster teamwork and a positive attitude both within and towards other departments
  • Provide and report weekly measures, outcomes, and statistics to monitor, assess, and analyze efforts and progress toward goals for admissions and financial aid
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other campus departments to plan and assess College programming and processes
  • Stays abreast of current regulations, changes, trends, best practices, and techniques concerning policies and procedures that affect admissions, financial aid, and military services
  • Will be responsible for oversight of the Perkins Grant.
  • Implement a professional development and training program for a successful student front-door experience
  • Provide leadership and oversight over recruitment, outreach and financial aid
  • Oversee outreach and recruitment events such as TACROA college fairs and high school campus visits
  • Establish and maintain relationships with area school districts; foster strong relationships between the College and area high school counselors
  • Serve as a quality management trainer for certifying coaches
  • Maintain a high level of professional competence in best practices in admissions, financial aid, program assessment, operational budgeting, and leadership
  • Provide oversight in the writing and management of the Carl D. Perkins Grant

  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
  • This position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town

  • Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Duties indoors and some outdoors

Pay Statement
