Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in our San Diego and Orange County, California offices. The position will have the opportunity to work on complex projects involving innovative water resource planning and urban stormwater management, including water supply and demand planning; watershed and stormwater runoff modeling/management analyses; sustainable green stormwater infrastructure engineering and design; hydrologic/hydraulic analysis; industrial and construction NPDES permitting support and inspections; and Clean Water Act regulatory support for municipal and private clients, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Watershed modeling, planning, and implementation;
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analysis and modeling;
  • Water resources systems analysis, including water supply;
  • Planning, review, and design of Stormwater Best Management Practices;
  • Spatial analysis and database management;
  • Literature review and synthesis;
  • Technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps; and
  • Stormwater management, compliance, and permitting.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science or closely related field with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering or natural resources science or closely related field with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (preferred)
  • Ability to work towards professional licensure. (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn on the job. (required)
  • Experience with stormwater sampling and/or CGP or IGP Compliance. (preferred)
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, WSPG, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
  • Experience with CAD and/or GIS software. (preferred)
  • Experience with land development, permitting, or municipal project implementation. (preferred)
  • Experience with water resources planning and design. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California location below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Based on state and federal requirements, this position may be hourly and overtime-eligible or salaried eligible for straight-time overtime. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum: $64,480 /yearly / Maximum: $84,445/yearly or Minimum: $26.25 /hourly / Maximum: $31.00/hourly (San Diego)
