Job Description

Class Description

The purpose of this class is to provide leadership and oversee planning, direction, control and evaluation of all work associated with the day-to-day operation of College’s enterprise databases, business Intelligence and enterprise system integrations. 

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required, degree in computer science, software engineering, database administration, or information technology management preferred. Five (5) years of experience managing database and application development, project management and supervising staff required. Microsoft Certified Database Administrator for Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional certifications preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Provide direct supervision and evaluation to enterprise database development and operation team.
  2. Plan and evaluate for the completion of scheduled projects and tasks.
  3. Develop the execution of strategic priorities and operational objectives.
  4. Collaborate and coordinate with system users to understand their needs and business requirements. 
  5. Resolve problems related to IT systems
  6. Establish goals and objectives for operations consistent with CCBC’s mission, vision and values.

Position Specific Essential Duties

  1. Plan and coordinate installs and upgrades for enterprise servers, database servers and application tools.
  2. Lead, monitor, and optimize enterprise databases, business intelligence and application integration platforms.
  3. Research, evaluate and recommend technology directions for enterprise databases, application platforms, tools and methods.
  4. Provide application administration, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting for commercial and in-house developed applications hosted on premises and in the cloud.
  5. Translate business problems into scalable and sustainable data and analytical solutions.
  6. Oversee and maintain the integrity of database storage structures and objects.
  7. Develop industry best practices such as ITIL required to achieve high performance and effectiveness.  
  8. Maintain project plans and task lists within the college’s workload management system TeamDynamix.
  9. Provide consultation, recommendation, and technical support for databases and application platforms such as web services.
  10. Implement database standards and conventions in conjunction with guidance from Data Governance and Data Owners.
  11. Manage, configure and administer enterprise hardware for databases and application platforms.
