Essential Job Duties

Duties include:
A
ssisting in the area of grounds keeping at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course, landscaping, sodding, applying fertilizer and pesticides on and around the course, cutting grass on fairways, roughs, fringes and greens, ornamental and turf pest control, golf course upkeep, sprinkler system maintenance, fencing, and tree trimming.

Minimum Experience/Education

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
 
Necessary Special Qualifications: North Carolina Pesticide License may be required and can be obtained within six months of employment; North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License may be required.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities and assignments according to work schedule
  • Working knowledge and applicability of tools, methods, and materials used in golf course and ground maintenance
  • Operational knowledge of equipment used: walking and riding mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, rollers, bunker rakes, carts, push mowers, and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. frequently, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time in outside conditions, and perform strenuous physical labor
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Excellent punctuality and reliability
