Job Description

Position Summary

The Mathematics Department is recruiting for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Mathematics faculty position available August 2024.  We are looking for an engaging team player comfortable with traditional, WebEx/TEAMS, and online/hybrid assignments. Teaching assignment may include all levels of mathematics through Calculus III, including developmental courses and corequisite college level courses. Class size is usually limited to 35 students. A successful candidate will compassionately commit to rigor and retention through campus partnerships at the departmental, divisional, and institutional levels. Committee work and other duties will be assigned by the department chair or dean. Teaching assignment may include evening classes.

Starting earned monthly salary for the nine-month position is $5,241.33.  The earned annual salary is paid out over twelve months.

Working Conditions
All faculty have a private office, computer, phone, reserved parking, dedicated dining space, and summers off. Optional summer overload classes may be available.  Our small class sizes allow opportunities to directly engage students, and all members of the department regularly share in classroom and curricula upgrades and planning.

Duties & Responsibilities

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Regular faculty members help students achieve learning outcomes by teaching assigned classes in accordance with established guidelines and policies and participate in advising and committee assignments, other academic and institutional support activities, and supervisory responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Mathematics. Will consider May 2024 graduates.
  • Computer literacy
  • Commitment to teaching excellence. 
  • Excellent work ethic
Preferred
  • Qualifications to teach in additional disciplines
  • Experience teaching with OER resources
  • Experience with teaching corequisite courses (HB 2223)
  • Experience forming community partnerships
  • Experience in assessment of student learning outcomes
  • Experience teaching students from a wide spectrum of ages and from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, including high school students enrolled in dual-credit classes
