Job Description

The Lecturer will lead multiple in-person discussion sections for GB 301 (Business Law) which may be offered in the Fall, Spring, and/or Summer semesters. We are looking for a commitment to collaboration, student-centered learning, inclusion and research-based/applied curriculum design and development. Well-qualified candidates will have experience in course or training development, inclusive design, and/or developing assignments and activities that help all students meet stated learning outcomes. Expertise in Business Law or Accounting through research or industry experience would be an advantage. Experience working with and serving a diverse group of learners or constituents is also preferred.

The Lecturer is responsible for developing in-class teaching and learning objectives that are in alignment with learning outcomes; classroom instruction; and exam preparation all under the general supervision of the course instructor and the Chair of the Department. The Lecturer will also participate in service to the AIS Department and the Wisconsin School of Business (WSB). These responsibilities and duties comprise 100% of the work in this position.

Responsibilities:

Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

  • 70% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 20% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Education:

Required
PhD
Must have JD, or PhD, with focus in legal studies.

Preference of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, or LLM degree in taxation or related area

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience at the manager or higher level in public accounting or related area such as business law or taxation.

Preferred:
  • Prior teaching experience

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 10% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 9 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Negotiable

The FTE for this position has the potential to fluctuate depending on the number of classes taught. This position may become renewable if there is a need for an ongoing appointment.
