ABOUT THE POSITION
The Equity and Inclusion Special Projects Coordinator is a key position that will take a lead role in helping Normandale Community College achieve its strategic goals, including the achievement of racial equity in educational outcomes by 2025 and supporting and sustaining a college culture that is culturally responsive and service oriented.
 
The primary responsibilities for this position are administration of professional development opportunities for the college, and planning and coordinating projects and initiatives on behalf of the Equity and Inclusion department. Additional responsibilities of this position include identifying and designing learning resources, project management, recordkeeping, data analysis, research and reporting, and communications. Additionally, this position will administer the Intercultural Awareness Program, including IDI assessments and individualized coaching. The Equity and Inclusion Special Projects Coordinator reports to the Associate Vice President of Equity and Inclusion.
 
This position will actively advance the college’s strategic goals, including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts. The Normandale Community College library supports every student in the pursuit of their education by providing dynamic services, relevant collections, and flexible learning spaces that foster an inclusive environment, intellectual discovery, and achievement.

Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
These qualifications are required to move forward; as such, ensure your application contains descriptions of your education and work experience sufficient to demonstrate competency in each of the following):
 
    • Bachelor’s degree AND at least one (1) years of professional experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion, recruiting, or training and development OR Associate’s degree and three (3) years professional experience described above.
    • Experience with project management and facilitation.
    • Experience presenting on topics relating to equity and inclusion, anti-racism, social justice, and racial justice.
    • Experience promoting events and creating content for social media.
    • Experience with scheduling and registration process for in-person and digital events.

 

 
Other knowledge, skills, and abilities to be interviewed for:
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize anomalies, and problem-solve or suggest corrective action.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) across cultural differences with a variety of colleagues and partners, including facilitating team meetings and projects.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Commitment to advance the college’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
  • Qualified administrator, or ability to become a qualified administrator within six (6) months, of the Intercultural Development Inventory.
  • Proven experience working on projects requiring significant collaboration with college faculty.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce complex data reports.
  • Experience working with Affirmative Action and Equity Plans.
  • Expertise in advancing racial equity.
  • Experience using the theory and praxis of intersectionality for data analysis and program design.
  • Significant experience collaborating with cultural organizations who are reflective of and support our student and employee populations, including Black/African-American, Somali, Latinx/a/o, Hmong, Queer, Persons with Disabilities, and Veteran communities.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, such as D2L Brightspace, Moodle, Learn Dash, Adobe Captivate, TalentLMS, Thinkific.
  • Working proficiency in Somali, Hmong, Arabic, or Spanish.
