Position Summary

Under general supervision of assigned manager/supervisor, assists faculty by working with students individually or in groups in the improvement of academic knowledge and technical skill, and does related work as required.

Benefits

Temporary employees earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours.

Assignment Responsibilities

Oversees and manages lab reservations and walk-in traffic. Tracks maintenance and availability of computer facilities, computers, and peripheral equipment. Assists in training students, student workers, and faculty in both on-ground and online learning environments on the use of virtual-reality focused computer equipment. Assists with creating user logins, accounts, and documents for ARIEIL facility use. Supports tracking and maintenance of student contact hours, student records. Works with faculty and staff on solutions for students needing more assistance. Assists in developing training materials, including visual aids. May assist faculty members with optimizing use of the ARIEIL facility to improve learning experiences and objectives. Assists with maintaining VR resource materials. Assembles VR instructional materials according to instructor’s guidelines. May proctor VR exams. Troubleshoots system issues with virtual reality equipment to ensure maximum uptime. Documents computer user problems; performs troubleshooting and minor maintenance on equipment and software. Cleans equipment per established procedures and utilizes appropriate safety measures taken during equipment use. Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: One year of tutoring instruction or work experience related to operating and/or supporting an educational or commercial virtual reality environment or virtual reality technology.

EDUCATION: Completion of one year of college, or 30 semester units (45 quarter units).

Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Education must be from an accredited institution.
