OAR is inviting applications for a Senior Manager to join our Regional Recruitment team. This position is fully remote. The individual in this position will develop and lead undergraduate recruitment efforts in the region of Northern California, Oregon and Washington State. As a whole, UW-Madison's regional recruitment team supports institutional efforts to strategically grow undergraduate applications from students from across the country. They represent the university to all prospective undergraduate populations and participate in the holistic application review of a robust and talented applicant pool of 71,000+ students. Finally, they work collaboratively with office leads to develop and implement sustainable and effective domestic recruitment plans within their regions.

This is a 100% remote position that requires the ability to set up a private office space with high speed internet access. The incumbent must currently live in or be willing to relocate to a metropolitan area that is easily accessible to a major airport within the territory of Northern California, Oregon or Washington State. Candidates must be able and willing to travel at least 50% of the time and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. The position necessitates individuals to stand and walk for extended periods of time as well as lift and transport up to forty (40) pounds.

Responsibilities: Manages a program and/or programmatic activities. Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.
  • 40% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • 20% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • 10% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • 5% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • 5% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • 15% Reviews, evaluates, and makes admission decisions on student applications according to
    established policies and procedures

Tasks:
  • Develop, implement, and manage a strategic recruitment, outreach and yield strategy for assigned region in order to grow our applicant pool; identify key recruitment markets, schools, and educational programs
  • Communicate information about UW-Madison's academic and co-curricular opportunities to prospective students, their families, school counselors, and Community Based Organizations (CBO), among others
  • Conduct webinars, information sessions, and school visits, attend college fairs, and participate in select on campus activities as requested that support enrollment for prospective students and their families, school counselors and others
  • Travel to campus 4-5 times each year to participate in trainings and on-campus events
  • Develop strategies that enhance our community relations and support college access organizations in partnership with external community-based organizations
  • Collaborate with office communications, marketing, events, and recruitment teams to align communications and publications needs with events, and recruitment travel
  • Compile statistical data relating to recruitment/admission results. Review/evaluate results with focus on future planning and assessment
  • Review, evaluate, and make admission decisions on student applications according to established policies and procedures

Qualifications:

Required:
--At least five years of experience in college admissions at a selective institution, either institution-based or as a regional recruiter
--This is 100% remote position that requires the ability to set up a private office space with high speed internet access
--The incumbent must currently live in or be willing to relocate to a metropolitan area that is easily accessible to a major airport within the territory of Northern California, Oregon or Washington State.
--Evening and weekend in-person and virtual work as well as frequent local/regional travel required

Highly qualified applicants may have the following:
--Experience working with individuals from broad cultural and ethnic backgrounds
--Experience attracting, recruiting, and enrolling undergraduate students/families, preferably in a selective, high-volume admissions office at a four-year institution
--Knowledge of the university recruitment cycle, best practices, and trends in attracting, recruiting, admitting, and enrolling students, including appropriate professional standards and codes of ethics (such as NACAC's Statement of Principles of Good Practices)
-- Experience with high schools, two-year colleges, independent counselor groups, and community-based organizations (CBOs) in the designated region of Northern California, Oregon, and Washington State
--Ability to leverage data and technology in support of decision-making and making strategic recommendations
--Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, (i.e., Salesforce), etc.
--Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, collaboration, and public speaking skills
--Proficiency in two or more languages
