Scope of Position

The Data Systems Administrator will be well versed in time series data systems, especially with the Aveva PI product line including the PI Integrator, PI AF, and PI Interfaces. The ideal candidate should be able to handle any PI-related issue and be experienced in technical support. The candidate will be responsible for the smooth operation of our PI data infrastructure, from interface configuration and tag building to AF implementation, ensuring the continuous provision of high-quality data. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively, and document work done. This position requires diligence and flexibility without sacrificing quality. It also requires a mindset of continual improvement and eyes on the reliability and business value of the system.

Responsibilities
    Address any issues in the system promptly
  • Respond to user tickets promptly
  • Build tags, configure interfaces and AF Models
  • Leverage AF technologies to oversee and manage data
  • Author and contribute to system and team documentation
  • Onboard new sites, including infrastructure specification, software installation, tag creation, data validation, and incorporation into AF/Integrator
  • Provide on-call support for outages and problem resolution. Incident management of outages is required until resolution.
  • Develop test plans and rigorously test all upgrades, revisions, and configuration changes to the System
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

90% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 10% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors and/or internal customers' sites in addition to attending various conferences and meetings.

Qualifications
  • 3 or more PI System Certifications (Configuring PI Data Archive Security, Implementing PI System High Availability, configuring a Simple PI System, Creating Reports with PI DataLink, Visualizing PI System Data with PI vision, PI System Administration for IT Professionals) or equivalent experience.

Education/Experience:

  • Requires 5 years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting PI Software suite
  • Proficient in PI System architecture, security, and best practices
  • Extensive experience using AF (PSE), PI Integrator, SMT, PI DataLink, and PI Builder
  • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (RDBMS, OPC, Modbus, IEC 61850/61400/60870, DNP3, Loggernet, Ovation, etc)

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Experience installing, configuring, validating, and tuning PI Servers and PI Interfaces and PI Integrator
  • Advanced troubleshooting techniques
  • Solid understanding of Windows OS, AWS, networking, and system security fundamentals
  • Experience designing and implementing highly reliable and large-scale systems with HA collectives and federated designs preferred
  • Proficient verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to address business issues and conflicts in a professional, constructive, and technical or non-technical manner
  • Familiarity with AWS, such as Redshift and S3 Buckets, desired
  • Knowledge of MS SQL preferred
  • Programming skills preferred (C# or Python)

This role's annual base salary range is between $102,500 and $171,000.
