Content Specialist (Summer Student Internship)

Job Description

Job Title

Content Specialist (Summer Student Internship)

Job Description

The Pulte Institute for Global Development, part of the University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs, is seeking a temporary program coordinator, ideally a recent graduate from an undergrad or graduate level degree program. The Pulte Institute promotes human development and dignity among people worldwide through applied innovation, impact evaluation, education, and training programs that help build just and equitable societies. This program coordinator will support the 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF) for Young African Leaders at Notre Dame.

The MWF is a prestigious, intensive six-week program designed to provide young professionals from sub-Saharan African countries with relevant programming in a Leadership in Business Institute. It features numerous academic sessions, events, site visits, cultural activities, community service days, and other trips to organizations in Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. To learn more about the history of the program at Notre Dame, please visit our MWF webpage and watch the MWF 2023 highlights video. This year will be the 10th anniversary of the MWF at Notre Dame.

This position works closely with the MWF Academic and Administrative Directors and the Pulte Institute’s Communications team to execute MWF program photography, social media strategy, and basic videography. The Content Specialist is an integral part of the MWF team and will follow the cohort throughout their six-week learning journey to capture and convey to an external audience not only their academic experiences, but also the unique evening and weekend events they participate in as part of the program.

This role requires a highly detail-oriented individual who can operate within a quick-paced environment. The emphasis in this role is on photography, and the photos taken and edited by this intern will be used for high-profile Pulte Institute marketing materials, such as the Institute’s annual review, website, donor relations materials, and other printed projects, in addition to social media. It will be vital for the intern to have a quick turnaround time in regards to taking and editing photos. This will include converting and preparing content for social media channels and other outlets, alongside the larger communications team. Ideally this will also include taking short form video content for platforms such as Instagram. The Content Specialist will also assist with writing titles, descriptions, closed captioning and tags for photos and videos. This will include monitoring and adhering to Pulte Institute and MWF branding requirements, and preparing content for submission to program funders as part of the communications requirements. Our ideal candidate has extensive photography experience, with other experience in implementing social media campaigns and videography.

The MWF is one of the Pulte Institute’s most popular and recognizable programs and one of its biggest drivers of social media engagement throughout the year, so the student in this position will play a critical role in the Pulte Institute’s overall outreach efforts and donor engagement. In the past, photos from the MWF at Notre Dame have also been used and promoted by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the MWF implementing partner, IREX.

Housing in the Notre Dame dorms can be provided throughout the duration of the MWF should it be required, unless the intern lives locally. If the intern requires airfare to travel to/from the internship, this can be provided.

Please note a portfolio of edited photos MUST BE submitted with your application, either through this form or in your resume.
