Product Marketing Strategist, Principal

Your Role

The Product Marketing team collaborates with key partners in Product Management, Sales, and Marketing to bring differentiated and desirable health plan solutions to the market. The Product Marketing Strategist, Principal will report to the Product Marketing Team Lead. In this role, you will leverage your understanding of market and customer demands, technology trends, and the competitive field to proactively drive cross-functional alignment in health plan solution development and launch. A data-driven and voice-of-the-customer advocate, you serve as the strategic hub for key go-to-market (GTM) strategies, including informing and influencing product roadmap, developing competitive positioning and messaging, and ensuring consistency in GTM execution.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Be accountable for go-to-market strategy delivery, and a driver of executional teams for a portfolio of new and existing products, including value propositions, positioning and messaging. In close collaboration with Product Management, craft clear and compelling product narratives and launch strategies to engage current and prospective customers on agreed-upon product priorities. Ensure all launches are delivered on-time and on-budget
  • Craft product positioning for a portfolio of products that resonate with B2B/B2C buyers and differentiate Blue Shield of California in the marketplace. Collaborate directly with peers in Marketing, Sales, and Product Management teams to define core differentiators and value propositions
  • Ensure timely execution and delivery of insights (including competitive intelligence, market research, and data analysis) for a portfolio of new and existing products to understand customer needs, pain points, and opportunities. Ensure delivery of intelligence that informs our product roadmap and prioritize solutions that best address our buyers' needs and use cases
  • Leverage insights, data and intelligence to inform our product discovery, design roadmap and prioritization to best address our buyers' needs and use cases
  • Represent the Product Strategy team on external customer calls as the voice of customer and product; represent strategic roadmap externally when needed
  • Operate collaboratively and proactively with Marketing, Sales, Product Management, and other core teams on product roadmap and GTM strategy
  • Understand market and customer demands, technology trends, and the competitive field
  • Create and deliver clear and compelling presentations to appropriate audiences
  • Independently manage cross-functional projects and planning effective timelines to utilize the full potential of the team
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across department teams, functional teams, and internal/external stakeholders for the success of your product outcomes (membership, operating income, satisfaction)
  • Guide/supervise the creation and interpretation of business product performance analytics to drive ongoing portfolio management and strategy

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, Master's degree preferred
  • Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant experience, including 5 years of experience in Product Marketing, Product Management, Management Consultant, or Entrepreneurship
  • Requires experience driving successful execution of core product marketing tasks: product positioning, messaging, GTM execution
  • Requires experience championing the voice of the customer to prioritize products and solutions to best address consumers' needs
  • Requires demonstrated history of successfully managing complex projects
  • Proven history managing and influencing stakeholders and leaders
  • Highly adaptive communicator who builds trust, embraces challenges and who is a lifelong learner
  • Experience in a B2B, B2C, or B2B2C product marketing environment preferred
  • Previous experience in healthcare a plus but not required

Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is: $ 145970.00 to $ 218900.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
