10-Month Tenure Track Position

COMPENSATION: 
Initial salary placement ranges from $55,714 to $87,247, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $116,888.  A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. Job Description: The faculty member is responsible for teaching assigned Accounting and Business Administration courses under the supervision of the area dean and providing teaching mentorship to students to fulfill their maximum potential in mastering accounting course content.

Representative Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be present on campus to teach face-to-face classes and hold in-person office hours.
  • Instruct students in a full range of classes appropriate to the accounting discipline including, but not limited to: personal and business tax, financial and managerial accounting, governmental and non-profit accounting, computerized accounting (QuickBooks), bookkeeping, payroll, and accounts receivables.
  • Participate in the Business Administration department annual program review.
  • Participate in full- time faculty responsibilities, including, but not limited to department meetings, office hours, committee assignments, program development, and staff development activities.
  • Demonstrate work experience with assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), and to use the results to make improvements in teaching and learning. 
  • Promote the success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials and effective teaching methodologies. 
  • Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including dual enrollment at high school sites, evening and/or weekends, hyflex, and in hybrid and online formats as needed.
  • Demonstrate a student-entered approach to teaching to inspire and motivate students to succeed.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities in the discipline, including club advising. 




Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration
OR 
Bachelor’s in business with accounting emphasis or business administration with accounting emphasis, or economics with an accounting emphasis
AND
Master's in business, business administration, business education, economics, taxation, finance or the equivalent.

(NOTE: A bachelor's degree in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration, with a CPA license is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)

Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•    A minimum of two years teaching accounting courses, particularly financial and
      managerial accounting, at the community college level.
•    Experience using Canvas learning management system (LMS) from an instructional
      standpoint.
•    Distance education (DE) certified in Canvas learning management system (LMS).
•    Recent classroom experience with a diverse range of students, including            underrepresented populations and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes.
•    Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including special needs students.
•    A minimum of five years of business experience, preferably accounting and/or auditing  
     experience, in the private and/or public sector.
•    Knowledge in spreadsheet and accounting software.
•    Experience in developing and teaching online and hybrid courses.

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

 Office, classroom, lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations.
