We are seeking a Radiation Physicist to support our Radiation Oncology department at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego. As part of our dynamic team, you will participate in all aspects of the operation of the physics services and must be detail oriented when calibrating and QA testing our equipment to ensure accurate performance. The ideal candidate is both a strong communicator and enthusiastic about learning to use the latest technology to provide quality patient care.

Under the supervision of the Director of Physics, the Radiation Physicist oversees the delivery of the planned course of radiation therapy, calculates dosage, and documents all treatments, set-up instructions, measurements, and photos. Responsible for treatment planning and some radioactive implant procedures. Does all treatment planning and radiation therapy according to the physician's orders. Oversees the radiation therapists and assists the Director as assigned. Ability to perform competencies as outlined in Radiation Oncology Competency Assessment tools. Demonstrates age-specific care as established for area and job title.

  • Must remain in original Job Title
  • Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Radiological Medical Physics or related field
  • Board-Certified or Board-eligible in American Board of Radiology in therapeutic radiological physics
  • Certified as a Therapeutic Calibration Physicist

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior training and work experience in radiation therapy, demonstrated knowledge in all technical/safety aspects of the position, with excellent communication skills
  • Manipulation of numbers and complex problem-solving skills
  • Recent experience working in complex environments, experience with MOSAIQ, ARIA, and Varian equipment preferred
  • Experience with the BrainLab treatment planning and ExacTrac, and ExacTrac Dynamic
  • Familiar with Sun Nuclear QA equipment and software.
  • Familiar with Oncentra planning and Elekta HDR
