Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director of Community Standards provides leadership and management for the efficient, effective, equitable, and ethical functioning of the Office of Community Standards to promote student responsibility, civility, and respect. The Director of Community Standards directs and administers the student conduct disciplinary procedures and maintains the student conduct database. The director also advises investigation and hearing officers, complainants, and respondents; educates the college community on student conduct policies and procedures; and provides educational programming on behavioral and safety issues.
 
Job Description
  • Recruits, hires, leads, manages, and supervises employees and evaluates their performance of their assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Represents the department to all internal stakeholders including through service on college committees, task forces, boards, and commissions.
  • May, with proper appointment, represent the Division of Student Services or NorthWest Arkansas Community College to external stakeholders including through service on relevant local, state, national, and global committees, task forces, boards, and commissions.
  • Prepares reports on behalf of the department including reports required by federal and/or state law or external funding sources as a condition of funding. For some of these reports, the director may also be responsible for submitting them in a timely and proper manner.
  • Cultivates and nurtures relationships with sponsors, partners, and stakeholders in the college and the community to ensure equity, inclusion, and collaboration in the design, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services.
  • Develops equitable, inclusive, and effective procedures and processes to fulfill the operations of the department.
  • Maintains professional competence relevant for and consistent with the demands of the programs and services provided by the department and with the needs of the students served.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement efforts through assessment, evaluation, and program review aligned with the articulated priorities of the institution and the demonstrated needs of students.
  • Administers student conduct and student-related Title IX disciplinary processes and procedures.
  • Coordinates and facilitates training and professional development for conduct review board.
  • Coordinates and facilitates training and professional development for Title IX investigators and decision-makers.
  • Recruits, coordinates, and facilitates training for NWACC Confidential Advocates.
  • Directs conduct case management to appropriate college officials to ensure consistent & timely response.
  • Maintains and monitors the student conduct database system.
  • Coordinates safety projects in collaboration with the Emergency & Risk Management Department.
  • Provides prevention & awareness programs for students on topics related to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking, alcohol and drugs, and behavioral and safety issues.
  • Collaborates with Department of Public Safety to establish proactive programming for conduct & safety.
  • Develops & maintains a student conduct process that is aligned with national standards and best practices.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and reporting requirements, including Clery Act, Title IX, FERPA, and other compliance regulations as necessary.
  • Coordinates provisions of the college’s drug/alcohol abuse policy and conduct a biennial review of policy.
  • Creates and distributes the annual student Drug-Free School Notification statement college wide.
  • Educates the college community on student conduct policies and procedures.
  • Designs student conduct programming and procedures which promote student development.
  • Develops departmental budget and manages department expenses and funding sources (including but not limited to state allocations, tuition and fees, auxiliary revenues, grants, and sponsorships) to ensure effective, efficient, and ethical fiscal operations.
  • Assists the college’s Ethics and Compliance Officer with identifying Campus Security Authorities (CSA) for purposes of maintaining Clery Compliance.
  • Maintain and update the student handbook and student code of conduct.
  • Provides support by assisting students to get connected to college and/or community resources.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
 
Salary Range $50,000-$52,000 annually

Qualifications
Master’s degree in educational administration or related field plus at least one year of relevant full-time professional experience.
