This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at East Campus Medical and remote.

Under the general direction of the HIM Operations Manager, coordinates and performs critical analysis of data related to the Master Patient Index, i.e, ensuring every patient admitted to the ambulatory care services, emergency services, and hospital care, has unique identifiers (medical record numbers) with accurate demographic and clinical information. Reviews, maintains, and, when necessary reconciles critical data to mitigate duplicate assignments of unique identifiers upon admission or registration; subsequent performance of necessary record merging and electronic movement or transfer of erroneous information.

In addition to data reconciliation, this position analyzes the details of the data for reporting purposes to a medical staff committee and working groups to assess any trends associated with demographic errors and staff data entry or information capture. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences. Requires a self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision: a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and flexible individual in a large, complex organization. Must possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

The MPI Analyst is responsible for providing required support for Release of Information, Deficiency Analysis and HIM Operations in accordance with HIPAA guidelines, TJC (Joint Commission), Title 22 and organizational policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training. Related experience and proven success in records management principles and practices.

  • Thorough working knowledge of business intelligence functions and analytics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)/RHIT/RHIA certification or enrollment within six (6) months of hire.

  • Experience and proven success in records management principles and practices

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.

  • Experience and proven success in computer application programs. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Self-starter - accountable - work under minimal supervision.

  • Up to two (2) years or more of health information management experience/training OR At least two (2) years of related hospital health information management experience, education/training.

  • At least years (2) years Healthcare Administrative Environment Experience. (Ambulatory and Inpatient)

  • Understanding of medical terminology.

  • Experience with electronic medical records program. Familiarity with inpatient/outpatient medical records.

  • Epic Identity certification.

  • Chart review and abstraction experience.

  • Experience with Epic, electronic medical record.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $67,200 - $119,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.18 - $57.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
