Summary of Position

The Support and Education Coordinator conducts outreach in response to reports of potential incidents of discrimination and/or sexual misconduct, provides guidance on rights, resources, and resolution options, and facilitates reasonable supportive measures. In doing so, this position builds partnerships and acts as a liaison between impacted persons and campus offices, as needed. This position also coordinates the prevention and compliance education and training programming offered to the university community by Civil Rights & Equity Office (CREO). While based in Durham, this position serves the UNH campuses in Durham, Manchester and Concord.

While the primary responsibilities of this position will be dedicated to resource support response and coordination and execution of training, this position will be cross trained to fulfill formal and informal resolution functions of discrimination and sexual misconduct cases as needed.

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience, including but not limited to discrimination prevention and response, and/or sexual misconduct prevention and response.
  • Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including: Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, the Clery Act, and FERPA.
  • Ability to build trust and communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, USNH partners, and community organizations.
  • Experience working with and protecting private and/or confidential information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build partnerships across UNH campuses in Durham, Manchester, and Concord in-person and using virtual platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex situations and competing priorities.
  • Ability to initiate and independently carry out work under time constraints.
  • Proven presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training and education to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated organizational, record-keeping and writing skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work and engage productively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting trauma-informed intake sessions strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of case management software.
  • Experience working on student or employee conduct matters.
  • Background working in higher education strongly preferred.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Under the supervision of the Director of CREO and Title IX Coordinator and the Assistant Director, the Equity Specialist will work to support the university’s programs and compliance in Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, the Clery Act, VAWA, New Hampshire RSA 188-H, FERPA and other state and federal laws pertaining to discrimination and sexual misconduct in a higher education setting.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Conduct trauma-informed intake sessions with individuals who disclose potential incidents of discrimination and/or sexual misconduct.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Facilitate access to campus and community resources for students, staff, and faculty in response to reports and/or complaints of potential sexual misconduct and/or discrimination.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Maintain detailed case records of communications, meetings, supportive measures, processes engaged, case notes, etc. in records management system.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Provide training focused on response to and prevention of discrimination and sexual misconduct compliant with state and federal laws and maintain records of training delivered.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Prepare and disseminate outreach materials about the CREO, resolution processes, supportive measures, etc., in print and web-based forms.

  • Deliver work in a culturally competent manner that is inclusive of and responsive to the needs of UNH’s three campuses, including traditionally underrepresented populations, online students, and hybrid program participants.
