Process Development Engineer 2 needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific's client located in San Diego, CA.
This position will be for a major biotech company, and is suitable for someone with with product development processes and project management experience, along with some background in surface chemistry/ nanoparticles/ oligos (preferred).
Shift: Mon to Fri, 8 am to 5 pm
Key Responsibilities
- Perform DOEs for particle characterization and particle formulation.
- Perform plate based assays such as binding assays, fluorescent, FRET etc
- Accurately perform high complexity molecular testing using a variety of molecular biological methods including PCR, real-time PCR and DNA sequencing
- Perform newly introduced tests to the laboratory that require defined skills.
- Train to all SOPs related to the job function and adhere to all rules and protocols.
- Recognize and take appropriate action in response to critical values or unexpected results, and document action taken.
- Participate and lead root cause investigations.
- Troubleshoot production line issues related to yield, quality and throughput
- Analyze process test results, issue reports and make technical recommendations
- Author procedures and instructions for new manufacturing processes and train production operators to manufacture product in a GMP environment
Qualifications
- Work experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical or chemical industries is desirable
- Experience with surface chemistry/nanoparticles/oligos preferred
- Ability to conduct advanced molecular/biochemical analyses and tests, to interpret test results, and to prepare reports.
- Ability to work independently and make technical decisions based on professional knowledge and experience.
- Possess good understanding of manufacturing process, methodologies and environment.
- Knowledge of quality assurance, quality control functions and validation process
- Excellent Analytical, Problem Solving and Project Management skills.
- Experience with Statistical Process Control and DOE techniques is a plus
- Experience with high volume manufacturing in a high tech, high volume consumables industry is a plus
- High level computer skills are required
- Experience with product development processes and project management is a plus
