Job Purpose:
The Director of Residence Life & Housing is responsible for leading and supervising the University's Residence Life & Housing program, which serves undergraduate and graduate students living both on- and off-campus. A member of the Division of Student Life's Leadership Team, the Director works closely with the Assistant Vice President for Student Life to advance the strategic direction of the residential experience, facility management, and business operations of a mid-size housing program. The Director supervises a team of professionals and student staff, and coordinates efforts to ensure the Residence Life & Housing program fosters transformational student learning that aligns with Ignatian values.

Preferred start date will be June 1, 2024.

Essential Duties:
- Develop strategic vision for and coordinate a comprehensive Residence Life & Housing program that aligns with the University’s mission and supports the Division of Student Life’s goals while fostering an inclusive, welcoming living environment for students
- Maintain a departmental philosophy grounded in Ignatian values through articulation of student learning outcomes, policies and procedures, and programming models that create vibrant, inclusive living communities for students
- Provide leadership of and oversight for the Office of Residence Life & Housing’s daily operations by engaging in tasks including, but not limited to, coordinating assessment efforts, managing departmental budgets, supervising and developing staff, and supporting University crisis response efforts
- Directly supervise and support professional development for two Assistant Directors and an Office Manager while also indirectly supervising and supporting the Area Coordinator team
-Oversee the selection, training, and development for students who serve as Resident Assistants and/or student-leaders within the Office of Residence Life
- Direct housing assignment processes for all residential students including first year, upper-division and graduate students
- Support University efforts to maximize occupancy in University housing by coordinating marketing efforts, monitoring the application and assignment processes, overseeing housing selection processes, and maintaining data that allows for development of informed projections as part of the University’s budgeting efforts
- Coordinate education and support for junior and senior students choosing to live off-campus through programs including, but not limited to, the Off-Campus Education Process, pop up educational events, and strategic communications
- Collaborate with University partners to ensure compliance and student support in implementing medical accommodations in University housing
- Participate in the Student Life on-call rotation to provide direction and support to Area Coordinator on Duty and to respond to larger University crises
- Maintain appropriate Residence Life & Housing crisis response protocols and related communications

- Competence in budgeting and fiscal management
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff of diverse identities to advance student success and institutional goals
- Must be able to support the University’s commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture
- Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission

Minimum Education Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education or a closely related field

Preferred Education:


Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
- At least five (5) years of progressive experience working in Residence Life with increasing responsibility and exposure to various facets of residence life and housing operations such as budgeting, facility administration, student development, community development programming, and professional and student staff supervision

Preferred Qualifications:


Schedule/Work Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours as required.
