This position will be hired at the RSCH DATA ANL 1 or RSCH DATA ANL 2 level depending on the experience of the selected candidate.

DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision, the incumbent will provide data management and analytic support for projects aimed at the identification of genes for neuropsychiatric and cardiovascular diseases at the Department of Psychiatry, University of California, San Diego. Main duties and responsibilities include participation in: 1) project coordination, including independently obtaining data from various clinical and genomic resources, integrating and formatting large, complex datasets, and maintaining current databases; 2) data quality control, and statistical analyses of clinical, psychological, biological, and genomic data; 3) assist with presentation and publication of collected data, participate in the writing of manuscripts and grants, particularly in the preparation of methods and results text.

Performs other miscellaneous duties and other responsibilities as required such as planning limited studies or assists higher level Analysts in large, complex studies and planning and implementing data analyses of moderate complexity as needed in collaboration with lead authors and senior project biostatisticians in order to publish scientific manuscripts in major scientific journals and for scientific presentations at conferences and meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four (4) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area.

  • Acquiring knowledge of research function. Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties.

  • Acquiring statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design skills to perform research analysis duties.

  • Ability to effectively manage time and see assigned parts of projects through to completion on deadline.

  • Basic consultation and communication skills.

  • Experience in performing statistical analyses of clinical, biological, psychological, and genomic data.

  • Experience with various computer platforms and operating systems, including PC, Mac, and Unix.

  • Experience with programming and scripting languages (R, Python).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the application of basic and multivariate statistics to complex databases.

  • Experience assisting in developing systems for organizing data to analyze, identify and report trends.

  • Ability to plans limited studies or assists higher level Analysts in large, complex studies.

  • Experience planning and implementing data analyses of moderate complexity as needed in collaboration with lead authors and senior project biostatisticians in order to publish scientific manuscripts in major scientific journals and for scientific presentations at conferences and meetings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

  • Experience with genetic analysis software (e.g., Plink).

  • Experience with psychiatric diagnostic instruments (e.g., CAPS, BDU) and psychological questionnaires (e.g., PCL, DRRIs).

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $61,800 - $108,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.60 - $51.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
